The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHA) is pleased to announce the launch of its 28th Annual Christmas Wish Tree Appeal.
Christmas Wish Tree has become a cherished tradition in our community. Through this appeal, residents of Chatham-Kent are able to publicly honour or remember a family member, friend, colleague and/or business by making a donation to illuminate a pink, white or silver Christmas Wish Tree light in support of their local hospitals. This year’s event is in support of a new Mammography System for our local community. To celebrate, this year’s event features a pink Christmas theme, including pink envelopes.
Starting the week of November 14th, Chatham-Kent residents will receive a Christmas Wish Tree Appeal envelopes in the mail and information is also available online at www.ckhaf.ca,by clicking the Christmas Wish Tree logo on the homepage. Donations are being accepted online, via mail, over the phone or in-person at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation’s Chatham office at 9 Ursuline Ave., or drop off at the Wallaceburg Campus
As in previous years, all Christmas Wish Tree donations received before January 4, 2018 will feature honourees listed in The Chatham Daily News and the Wallaceburg Courier Press on a weekly basis, starting the week of November 27, 2017. This season names will also be displayed on paper ornaments that can be viewed at both the Wallaceburg and Chatham campuses.
To date, more than $5.3 million has been raised for the CKHA Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign.
“We are excited to announce the launch of our 28th Annual Christmas Wish Tree Appeal,” says Mary Lou Crowley, Executive Director, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation. “Fifty per cent of breast cancer diagnoses can be prevented if detected early. This new mammography equipment will allow us to provide the 1 in 9 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer a life saving test.”
The Christmas Wish Trees at CKHA’s Chatham and Sydenham Campuses will be illuminated on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. This year will feature a special ribbon tying ceremony where the public can tie a pink ribbon to the tree in honour of a loved one. The public is invited to enjoy Christmas carols, refreshments and to view the tree lighting.
Last year’s appeal raised more than $100,000 for the $6.9 million CKHA Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign. Proceeds from this year’s Christmas Wish Tree Appeal will once again be directed to this important campaign.
