“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” -Coretta Scott King
First as the Executive Director of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation, and now as the President & CEO of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation, I have discovered this statement to be true. And if you measure the community of Chatham-Kent by the compassionate actions of its members, it is indeed a great place to work, live, and grow.
Since November of 2017, it has been my great honour to lead the team as we work to raise funds for your local hospital. Each day, we have made great strides towards providing better health care outcomes for everyone in Chatham-Kent, and I feel truly blessed to have been a part of it.
We are embarking on an exciting time for community health care in our area. The hospital itself has changed in numerous ways over the past few years, and with it the Foundation. I want to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary commitment shown by our stakeholders which has enabled us to reach many of our fundraising goals, and we give many thanks to the unyielding support of our Board of Directors, office staff, committee members, event and office volunteers, loyal donors and sponsors. It is this support that will allow us to go forward with confidence to fulfil our commitment to the hospital and to you, the community.
Meanwhile, the dedicated team at CKHA remains focused on realizing the Alliance’s vision: Together, Growing a Healthier Community. In order to do this, we need to provide the most up-to-date medical equipment and leading edge technology to our doctors, nurses and other health care professionals – and that’s where the Foundation comes in. With limited government funding, CKHA relies on the generosity of our community to raise funds for the purchase of essential medical equipment. Our job is to facilitate this fundraising, to be the link between you, the residents of this great municipality, and the hospital that you rely on for so much.
A well-equipped hospital, with caring and skilled people who go above and beyond, can mean the world to our families and patients. This, in turn, can also help to attract leading health-care practitioners to the area, thereby strengthening our community even more. It is heart-warming and rewarding to learn again and again just how much of a difference what we do makes in people’s lives. Across Chatham-Kent, it takes the support of the entire community—organizations, businesses and individuals alike—to enable our hospital to do their best work.
Your kindness is the key to our success; the difference between good enough and great healthcare. This is what we will continue to work for, but we can only do it with your help. Thank you again for your continued support, and I look forward to working with all of you in the months and years ahead as we work to provide better healthcare for Chatham-Kent. Together, we can all make an impact on healthcare in our community.
