On Thursday, October 20, 2016, the Business Social Network (BSN) hosted their second Fill the Gap event at the Retro Suites, benefiting the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) Patient Basket Program.
“Our second Fill the Gap was an overwhelming success,” says Andrew Thiel, a member of BSN. “We realized the need to provide comfort and essentials to patients is an ongoing necessity and wanted to build off our first event with an even bigger impact. I think we accomplished that tonight.”
The second event included a positive response from the local business community. Many local businesses displayed collection bins within their locations to encourage staff and the public to donate, with Scotiabank collecting the largest amount of items. Heritage Dental Centres donated a bulk lot of tooth brushes, floss and toothpaste.
BSN is a unique networking group for Chatham-Kent businesses and community entrepreneurs that holds meetings or events bi-weekly. During the original Fill the Gap event, attendees donated cash or travel sized ‘everyday essential’ items in lieu of an entrance fee. The items are provided to out of town hospital patients that are in need of essential items while receiving care at CKHA.
