On Thursday, March 10, 2016, the Chatham-Kent Business Social Network (BSN) hosted Fill the Gap – a unique networking event for Chatham-Kent Businesses and Community Entrepreneurs that raised funds and collected products in support of patients receiving care at our community hospitals.
To support this initiative, attendees, in lieu of an entrance fee, brought a small cash donation or a travel-sized ‘every day essential’, such as shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, combs and toothbrushes, just to name a few, to Fill the Gap. The event organizers estimate that more than 3,000 items were collected for departments at CKHA to distribute to patients who, unexpectedly, require care at CKHA and may not have these supplies on-hand when the need arises.
“Many thanks to the Business Social Network for hosting this great event, Fill the Gap, in support a unique patient need at CKHA,” says Michele Grzebien-Huckson, Executive Director, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation. “Your generous contributions through the proceeds from Fill the Gap will have a very meaningful impact on patient care at our local hospitals and for that, we are very grateful.”
