CHATHAM, August 26, 2020 – The winning number for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation’s (CKHAF) Igniting Healthcare 50/50 FUNdraiser was drawn today, making one lucky ticket holder $172,870 richer.
This year’s staggering $345,740 total amount raised eclipsed the previous Igniting Healthcare 50/50, which set the record last year for Southwestern Ontario’s largest-ever online charitable lottery, by nearly $50,000.
“We are so incredibly grateful to this community” says Mary Lou Crowley, President & CEO of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF), “we never dreamed that we would be able to surpass last year’s record-setting total, and especially in the midst of a pandemic. Our lucky jackpot winner has not yet come forward, but with this much support for our hospital, everyone in Chatham-Kent is a winner today” adds Crowley.
Proceeds from this year’s 50/50 will support the purchase of a C-Arm – a specialized diagnostic imaging machine that uses X-ray technology to produce real-time images during a procedure. The C-Arm is a key piece of equipment for Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s (CKHA) new Urology services.
“We are extremely fortunate to have the support of Maple City Homes, SOAR Innovation, and milo-FAIS who generously sponsored this year’s Igniting Healthcare 50/50” said Greg Hetherington, Chair, CKHAF Board of Directors. “Their support, combined with the overwhelming participation from our community has made a significant contribution towards Urology services for our hospital.”
