CHATHAM, ON – Wednesday, July 31, 2019, the Royal Canadian Legion Chatham Branch 642 generously donated $200 worth of personal care items to the Medicine Unit at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA). In attendance to present these items were Branch President Zone Commander and District A Sgt-at-Arms Len Maynard, and Public Relations Officer Irene Williams.
This donation was inspired by the mission statement of the Royal Canadian Legion; to serve Veterans, youth and seniors in their communities. The members of Branch 642 saw a need for these items, and through their own personal experiences were inspired to collect them for CKHA’s Medicine Unit. The branch members are hoping their generous efforts will inspire action from other local Legion branches.
“We are happy to be challenging the 10 Legion Branches within the Chatham-Kent community to match or better this donation,” said Len Maynard, Sgt. at Arms. The Branches are located in Blenheim, Highgate, Merlin, Ridgetown, Thamesville, Dresden, Tilbury, Wallaceburg, Bothwell, and Wheatley.
The CKHA staff greatly appreciate Branch 642’s challenge in support of the Medicine Unit. “Thanks to donations like these, we can help our patients feel their best and even organize occasional spa days,” said Marie Marchand, Clinical Manager, Medicine Department.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 642 is located at 39 William Street in Chatham, Ontario. The Legion is proud to provide essential services and programs, raise funds, and volunteer in the Chatham-Kent community.
