CHATHAM, August 12, 2024 – After weeks of ticket sales and support from across our community and beyond, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation’s (CKHAF) Igniting Healthcare Summer 50/50 wrapped up on Friday, August 9, with Frank Ward of Chatham taking home the fundraiser’s $100,000 Guaranteed Jackpot.
Frank and his family were away for the weekend when they got the call that they had won, so he didn’t officially collect his grand prize cheque until Monday, August 12.
“We were on our annual trip to St. Jacobs, so my son took the call from the Foundation asking me to call them back,” Frank stated. “Then we got an email saying that the winner was Frank W., and my son checked the ticket and saw that we had the winning number, and I still can’t believe it. I’ve never won anything in my life before, so I’m still a little bit shaken up.”
The Summer 50/50 launched on July 2, and Frank purchased his lucky $50.00 ticket just a few days later on July 7, which included the winning number CK-6203282.
For Frank – who retired from a career as an I.T. Technician two years ago – this money will provide some security and peace of mind that means the world to them.
“This money sets me and my family up for the future,” Frank said. “We’re going to invest this, and then we know that no matter what happens, we’ll be covered. It’s going to make a huge difference for us.”
For the first time ever, this Summer 50/50 included a $100,000 guaranteed jackpot for the grand prize winner, driving the campaign to raise a strong total of $154,090 in ticket sales. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be designated towards the Highest Priority Needs at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA), which will allow the Foundation to continue to make crucial investments in life-changing equipment and facility upgrades in our local hospital sites.
