Foundation’s Radiothon raises $102,595 in honour of CKHA’s Frontline Faces

CKHA’s Frontline Faces Radiothon, presented by Precise ParkLink, took to the airwaves this past Saturday, October 1st, raising an unprecedented total of $102,595.60. Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation’s (CKHAF) inaugural Radiothon, the first event of its kind ever in Chatham-Kent, smashed its goal of raising $80,000 in honour of our local hospital’s frontline staff.

Thanks to a partnership with Blackburn Media, listeners from across Chatham-Kent and beyond were encouraged to tune in to Country 92.9 FM or 630 AM CFCO from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday. Those who tuned in were treated to a wide range of interviews that shone a light on the exceptional care delivered at CKHA on a daily basis. Throughout the day, listeners were encouraged to make donations online, over the phone, or in person, and the community’s response exceeded all expectations.

“We are simply blown away by our community’s response to Chatham-Kent’s first ever Radiothon,” said Mary Lou Crowley, CKHAF President & CEO. “The support that we witnessed for CKHA’s frontline physicians, staff, and volunteers was overwhelming, with people calling the TekSavvy Radiothon Phone Line and stopping by the CIBC Radiothon Headquarters all throughout the day to make donations and tell us about their own experiences. Together, we showed our local frontline healthcare workers how appreciated they are.”

All proceeds from Radiothon will support important local healthcare initiatives, including equipment renewal, program innovation, and modern facility upgrades at CKHA.

“The outpouring of support that we received throughout Saturday’s Radiothon really is a testament to our community’s generosity,” stated Bob Hockney, CKHAF Board Chair. “Time and time again, we have seen the people of Chatham-Kent step up in support of local healthcare, and this was no exception. The grand total of $102,595 raised is so important because it is more than an investment in innovation, equipment, and modern facilities at CKHA. It is also an investment in the physicians, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians, porters, and other frontline staff who deliver such exceptional care.”

In addition to generous donations from countless Chatham-Kent residents, Radiothon was bolstered by the support of some incredible partners including Precise ParkLink, TekSavvy Solutions Inc., TD Canada Trust, Chatham Honda, Vink Network Cables Inc., CIBC, Postmedia, ScotiaBank, and many more. A generous $5,000 matching gift from Main Street Credit Union was also crucial in helping to spur on even greater community support.

“I was delighted to hear so many inspiring stories on Saturday from frontline physicians, staff, volunteers, and grateful patients, highlighting the exceptional care delivered at our sites in Chatham and Wallaceburg on a daily basis,” said Lori Marshall, President & CEO of CKHA. “The financial support that the Foundation’s Radiothon received from our community clearly demonstrates a deep appreciation for the dedication and perseverance of our hospital’s frontline staff, and the funds raised will have a significant impact by enabling our frontline staff to continue to provide exceptional care for years to come.”

CKHAF connects the community of Chatham-Kent in support of high quality healthcare in CKHA’s sites in Chatham and Wallaceburg. Through the generosity of our community, clearly demonstrated through the success of charitable initiatives like Radiothon, the Foundation invests in program innovation, equipment renewal, and modern facilities to enable world-class healthcare in Chatham-Kent.
